Understanding the difference between users and guests is quite important in Cue Manager. Here is the difference between the two and how you can use each to suit your needs best.
Users #
User accounts are meant for people that need direct access to your system. Typically, this would be employees that work fulltime or are working in such a capacity that they need to be able to create and manage projects within your company. All plans come with a set number of included users at no additional charge, while additional users are billed per user. Visit our pricing page to compare plans and view costs.
Guests #
Guests are simply users from outside your company that only need limited access to specific projects that you invite them into. Common guests would include freelancers, clients, and other team members from outside your company. All plans come with a set number of included guests at no additional charge, while additional guests will be billed per guest. Visit our pricing page to compare plans and view costs.
Adding Guests to a Project’s Access Control List (ACL) #
Guests are added on a per project basis by going to the project you wish to add them on and clicking the ACL tab. Once there, click the Add button in the Access Control List. You will then be able to search for the user you would like to add. This can be anyone with a Cue Manager user account. If they do not have a Cue Manager account, see Inviting Guests below.
Inviting Guests #
If a guest doesn’t have a Cue Manager account yet, you can send them an invite link by heading over to the ACL tab within any project, clicking the Invite dropdown in the upper right, and selecting Invite Guest. From there, simply enter their email address and click Invite. You can then track the progress of their invite by clicking Invite and selecting View Recent Invites. Here you will be able to see if they have created their account yet. Once they have created their account, you will be able to add them onto the project’s ACL using the above procedure.
Adding Users to a Project’s Access Control List (ACL) #
In addition to adding guests to the access control list, you can also LIMIT a user’s privileges this way by adding them and choosing a more restrictive role. Let’s say you have a user with an administrator role but you don’t want them to be able to delete things from a specific project. You are able to add them to the ACL and choose a more restrictive role to accomplish this.
Charging for Newly Added Users & Guests #
- When you add an additional user or guest on a monthly plan, we will start charging you on the next invoice. There will be no prorated invoice or charge for the current billing cycle.
- When you add an additional user or guest on an annual plan, we will generate a prorated invoice for the remainder of the billing cycle and charge your card within 24 hours of the invoice being generated.
